Work background
On December 20, 2015, the State Council of the People's Republic of China promulgated the Order No. 665 Map of the Administrative Division of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, which defines the water area and land boundary administered by the Macao SAR, and created favorable conditions for the sustainable social and economic development of Macao SAR. To strengthen the administration of the land boundary of Guangdong and Macao SAR (referred to as the Guangdong-Macao land administrative boundary), promote the cooperation and development between Guangdong and Macao SAR, further define the specific location of the Guangdong-Macao land administrative boundary, and establish regular joint inspection mechanism, Guangdong and Macao SAR, under the coordination of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People's Republic of China, established the boundary markers for the Guangdong-Macao land administrative boundary, and signed the Cooperation Agreement for the Joint Inspection of the Guangdong-Macao Land Administrative Boundary, and achieved the milestone outcomes.
Significance of boundary Markers
The placing of the physical markers at the land boundary helps consolidate the achievement of the boundary survey project and create a favorable environment for maintaining the solemnity and stability of administrative boundary, strengthening the management and preservation of and raising social awareness of them.
These boundary markers were established after the state government clearly defined the administrative scope of the Macao SAR, which was the first in Macao and was both permanent and historical.
